Charities
There are many charities that aid to people being sexually exploited-
The Freedom Project
The freedom project is a non-profit organisation that aims to aid people being exploited sexually, physically and emotionally.
Vision: “The Freedom Project exists to end human trafficking and slavery. We’re building and equipping a community in the free world to help rescue and restore those enslaved around the world.”
Mission
The mission of The Freedom Project:
1. HONOURING GOD – We are unashamedly Christian. We believe in and are submitted to Jesus Christ as our source of life, salvation and authority. We desire to honour and glorify God in all we do and it is in obedience to Him and His word that we seek to be a voice for the voiceless. Colossians 3:17 “Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
2. AUTHENTIC FAITH - We stand convinced that faith without good works is dead. The plight of the oppressed, the enslaved, the poor and the downcast offends and breaks the heart of God and we are His hands and feet here on earth.James 2:14 “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?”
3. ALL PEOPLE - We value all people regardless of age, race, religion or gender. We are global citizens, responsible for loving our neighbor and taking care of those in need, whether across the road or across the globe. Everyone is made in the image of and is precious to God their Creator. Psalm 139: 13-14 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
4. JUSTICE & MERCY – Our God is a God of justice and mercy and therefore we value these gifts as important to deliver to a hurting, broken world. We are committed to seeing the enslaved set free, the oppressed delivered and justice and mercy prevail. Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O man what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love kindness and mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
5. COMMUNITY & PARTNERSHIP – We believe that the fight against human trafficking and slavery is a collaborative effort. We are ineffective on our own and must build a community of people and strong partnerships to make a significant impact. We value the many and varied skills, gifts and talents that people have and believe that unity, co-operation and partnership working together for a common purpose is powerful and effective. Ephesians 4: 15-17 “From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
6. FREEDOM & EQUALITY – We believe in and value freedom and equality as basic human rights. Those trapped in slavery have been stripped of these rights at the hands of their oppressors and we are committed to restoring these gifts and enabling precious lives to be lived to their full potential and purpose in God. John 10: 9-11 “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance to the full, till it overflows.”
7. INTEGRITY & TRANSPARENCY - Good stewardship across all aspects of The Freedom Project is highly valued. Integrity, honesty and transparency is woven into the fabric of all our endeavours. We desire that everyone from community members to casual on-lookers can be satisfied that there is full and honest disclosure in regards to funds entrusted to our care and information provided about what we do and how we do it. Proverbs 22: 20-21 “Have I not written….teaching you to be honest and to speak the truth, so that you bring back truthful reports to those you serve?”
8. PRAYER - Human trafficking and slavery is evil. Its roots are in the soil of sin and wickedness and there are strong spiritual forces at work that keep it thriving. We are of the strong conviction that man’s efforts alone cannot break the strongholds attached to slavery and therefore we must be clothed and united in PRAYER against such evil. We need wisdom, guidance and courage as we steward The Freedom Project well, and we need the mighty power of God to break the arm of wickedness. Prayer IS our greatest and most effective weapon to combat the evil of slavery. 1John 5:14 “ This is the confidence we have, that if we ask anything according to His will, He listens and hears us.”
